Tips on Sending Holiday Greetings – Hanukkah

So with the 3 big winter holidays fastly approaching I thought for the next three weeks I’ll provide tips on sending holiday greetings for a particular holiday. And why not do them on our Teach You Thursday!

This year Hanukkah stars on December 21st — so if you are wanting to send someone a Hanukkah greeting you should have it mailed out no later than December 17th (unless they live right there).

As we always encourage when sending a card incorporate both yours and the recipient’s brand so that it truly becomes a “Gift Within A Card”. So here are some quick things to consider for Hanukkah cards.

Traditional colors – Blue and Silver.
Traditional symbols – Dreidel and Menorah

Now this has appeared in past posts but something that I also mentioned is that you don’t always have to stick with traditional colors or traditional themes so if the recipient loves pink throw in a sprinkle of pink so that it truly reflects them!

Here are some of our current Hanukkah Greetings being retailed
on our Etsy site:

Inspire Me Tuesday

First I want to say thanks for dealing with my absence!  Can you believe it’s been like three weeks since I’ve written — with the new job and trying to get in a routine I’d always forget to blog… Well I’m finally in a semi-routine and I’m on a major to-do list/organize thyself Goal!

What better way to start back than with this Inspire Me Card:

Hope

HOPE is the dream of every walking man — Aristotle

Please take time to let this quote marinate in your soul and inspire you!  I know it is really marinating in my soul — We always hope for specific things but they won’t come true unless if we work for them (make the steps to achieve them).  The card will be posted to our ETSY site no later than Wednesday so keep an eye out for it!

Teach You Thursday – Scrap Word Paper

I apologize for posting this so late… things have been busy with my tutoring and work… by being off work 2 days with the sick kiddo I’ve been working longer hours so that I have mola to pay the bills.

As a cardmaker I find myself wondering what to do when I have some scrap paper with words on it.  Trying to not waste paper or trash it I find some kind of card to make.  Which I hope to show you how to do with today’s tutorial.  In honor of Graduation season I thought I would relate the card to graduates.

Step One: Gather Your Materials (Note materials will differ on this card since it depends on what you have)

Scrap Word Paper Card

Materials:

Scrap pieces of paper with words on it                         Scrap pieces of coordinating paper                                  Adhesive
Embellishments if desire

Step 2: Layout your papers how you desire on the card

Scrap Word Paper Card layer paper

Using your various paper layer them on the card arranging your word paper so that they are legible to read. As you can see I used a patterned vellum paper for the top portion and my words appear at the bottom of the card.

Step 3: Add your desired embellishments
For me I needed something to serve as a divider between the vellum and the word paper so that the styles flow together. I took some blue cardstock – cut as a strip of ribbon and placed some red brads along it.

And you are done you have a card which uses your scrap word paper in congratulations greeting for the special graduate in your life. What do you think?

Inspire Me Tuesday

So it is Tuesday — I hope you all didn’t party to much on Cinco de Mayo!

Starting on Tuesdays I will have some inspiring quote or words to uplift your week.  This is all part of the newest collection called the “Inspire Me” Collection.  This is the brainchild of my sister for she is the “Words” person … those English majors that just love literature or they see something and get an ahhhh Ha moment.  If you’ve ever seen our quote cards she is the main person behind them.

Today’s “Inspire Me” card is:

Inspire Me Collection 001

Please take time to let this quote marinate in your soul and inspire you!  I will post this card on our etsy site later today.

Jog Your Memory Monday (Happy Cinco De Mayo)

Hello All

I apologize for posting this late — today was the first day of our new session of teaching.  Where I teach we are session based so it is always busy on the first day and I forgot to write my post when I woke up this morning.

First — Happy Cinco De Mayo!  I hope you aren’t partying to much at one in the afternoon!  Later this evening I will post about Cinco De Mayo and why it’s an important date.

Monday’s theme posts will be jogging your memory on what cards you need to send this week.  Since we are in a new month of May I first wanted to start off informing you of dates to send cards in the month:

Dates To Send Cards in May

May- Emerald – Lilly of the Valley

  • Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Teacher Appreciation Month
  • May 1 – National Day of Prayer
  • May 3 – Kentucky Derby
  • May 5 – Cinco De Mayo
  • May 6 – Teacher Day
  • May 11 – Mother’s Day

Filegre Thanks     Teacher Appreciation Card

The focus related cards for this week are around your Teacher Appreciation — throughout the week if you are a student or a parent please don’t forget to let the Teacher in your life know how important they are to you.  You can do this with a simple Thank you card (remember last Thursday had a tutorial on how to make your own Thank You card with scraps!)

The two cards above are on our Etsy Site and would be great for giving your teacher as a form of thanks!

Now ask yourself — do I need to send some cards out this week?  If the answer is yes you better verify the address, pick a handmade greeting for that special person in your life, and put it in the mail or hand deliver!
