Yesterday I talked a little about Day of the Dead and the particular All Saints Day which you can read – here.
Today – November 2 – is All Souls Day which from a Western Christian perspective honors those faithful person whom have departed the world for the heavenly realm. Primarily Roman Catholics observe today with it being focused on the following doctrine which is quoted from Wikipedia:
souls of the faithful which at death have not been cleansed from venial sins, or have not fully atoned for mortal sins, cannot attain the beatific vision in heaven yet, and that they may be helped to do so by prayer and by the sacrifice of the Mass (see Purgatory).
Now as it relates to the Mexican Traditions of Days of the Dead — the All Souls Day is the day they focus on Adults whom have passed on.
