APA Heritage Month Fact

We wanted to start the facts for APA Heritage Month with a little bit of history about the month’s formation.

The origination of the month started as a congressional bill for Asian Pacific American Heritage week in 1977 which later trascended into a month long celebration in 1990.

The reason the month of May was selected is to commemorate the first Japanese immigrant on May 7, 1843 and the the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869.

Stay tuned for more facts.
