Featured Holiday/Event: Halloween

Each week we will do a feature post on the holiday/event of the week which encourages sending a card.

Today, as we all know, is HALLOWEEN!  Or if you want to go by it’s other popular sayings — “Hallowe’en, All Hallows Eve, All Saint’s Eve”.

Many European cultural traditions hold that Halloween is when the spiritual world can make contact with the physical world.  All culturals/countries celebrate this day differently.  For example, in Ireland – the youth and adults dress up as creatures from the underworld and they are out of school for an entire week with the Monday of Halloween being a public holiday.  An English tradition is – Witch balls which are hung up in homes, usually by the windows or front/back door and are said to glow if a witch passes by.  In America, Halloween is customarily celebrated with children Trick-Or-Treating and dressing up as various characters.  Many cities in the United States hold big parades or huge Halloween parties such as the Village Halloween Parade in New York City.

The traditional symbols of Halloween are (provided by Halloween Wikipedia)–

Color Symbolism
Black death, night, witches, black cats, bats, vampires
Orange pumpkins, jack o’ lanterns, Autumn, the turning leaves, fire
Purple night, the supernatural, mysticism
Green goblins, monsters
Red blood, fire, evil

ZeVin Creations wants to encourage you to give a Halloween greeting today — doesn’t have to be anything major — just a little Boo card will do the trick!  And with the card provide a special little treat…
