Featured Holiday/Event: Ramadan

Each week we will do a feature post on the holiday/event of the week which encourages sending a card.  We want to briefly discuss the Islamic holiday – Ramadan- which began the evening of September 23, 2006.

It is believed that during Ramadan, the revelation of the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad began. For the entire month, Muslims will fasting from dawn to dusk.   At dusk, the fast is broken with a group of friends and family in form a huge feast.  Muslims are to place their focus on their inner soul development rather than everyday life throughout Ramadan.  You will typically find Muslims in a mosque during daylight either in prayer or studying the Qur’an. The day is to be concluded witha a special prayer called  Taraweeh prayer  at night.  At the beginning of the next month, Ramadan is ended with a three day celebration called the ‘Festival of Breaking Fast’ or `Eid ul-Fitr

ZeVin Creations encourages you to show support to your Muslim friends/family during Ramadan with a card.  We will have Eid Ul-Fitr cards in mid-October.

Note – Information is provided by Wikipedia and a good friend of ZeVin Creations.
