Featured holiday/event: Literacy Day & Grandparents Day

Each week we will do a feature post on the holiday/event of the week which encourages sending a card.  For this week we want to discuss two upcoming events – Literacy Day & Grandparents Day.

International Literacy Day is Friday, September 8th.  The aim of this worldwide event is to encourage literacy in our society.  Here are some interesting facts–

  • More than 100 million children lack access to education. The majority of children without access to education are girls.

    • An estimated 860 million adults — nearly two-thirds of whom are women — do not know how to read or write.

  • ZeVin Creations feels you can show your support of this day by taking the opportunity to read to someone or send them an inspirational card for them to read.  It might seem silly but a card can enforce literacy as well!

Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 10th.  The purpose of Grandparents Day creation is threefold (As cited from Grandparents Day website)

    To honor grandparents
To give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children’s children.
To help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer.

ZeVin Creations feels you can show your support of this day by sending a “Thinking of You” card to that special “Grandparent in your life”.  We are actually working on some cards to celebrate this day for our upcoming shows this weekend (sorry for our web folks).  We know many don’t have there physical grandparents dwelling here on earth but you can still celebrate Grandparents Day by providing a card, call, or visit with another elder in your society.  We try to encourage to our children that ELDERS play a key role in our lives and we hope we have done the same with this post for you!
